Standards-based provisioning of all sensor data via SensorThingsAPI

The city of Ingolstadt provides traffic count data of motor vehicles for the entire city area since August 2019 as well as the current live data. To enable the partners of the research project and the citizens of Ingolstadt to utilize the measurements, the data are processed and made available on the Internet via a standardized web interface, the OGC SensorThingsAPI.

For this purpose, the Chair of Geoinformatics at the TU Munich in collaboration with e:fs has developed an open source Internet of Things (IoT) application stack. This stack includes a dashboard with aggregated statistics and a map with sensor locations. In addition to the running Ingolstadt instance, the infrastructure code for Kubernetes is also provided so that other cities and regions can also easily deploy this service in their own cloud environment. The stack is not limited to mobility applications, but provides a solution for all IoT data and detailed documentation can be found here.
